Powerpoint 2007 crashes when closing

Hello, My powerpoint 2007 crashes when I close the program, even if emtpy.
The error is

AppName: powerpnt.exe AppVer: 12.0.4518.1014 AppStamp:45428035
ModName: mso.dll ModVer: 12.0.6017.5000 ModStamp:461db01f
fDebug: 0 Offset: 0036e70c

I tried to repair, but it did not help

Any ideas?

Could you share what printer make/model, driver version is specified for
your default printer?

Does the problem go away when you install and change your default printer
driver to something generic provided with Windows Vista or Microsoft Office?

I have the same problem: sometimes when I close PPT2007, it crashes ...
I also have Vista (Ultimate), and am using a Laserjet 1000 as my default
printer ...
I cannot really say that it's systematical and I have no idea about the
specific cause of the problem ...

Hi,

I al also having the same issue with a clients computer. It is running
XP pro and computer is only 2 weeks old. Seems to happen when closing
Powerpoint. I am going there tomorrow and will check add-ins etc.

If anyone knows the issue please let me know

In XP with versions of PPT prior to 2007 (and maybe 2007 too? too early to tell),
some COM add-ins would cause crashes at shutdown.

There's a tool there from Chirag Dalal (scroll to the bottom of the page) that
gives a very complete report of loaded add-ins. I'd run it on the client's

Hello,

I have the same issue with Windows XP SP 2 with the latest Office and
Windows updates.
If I open Powerpoint 2007 with the latest updates and then make a
change. The save it. When I close it saves the change but then says it
had to close and ask me to restart. So even thoguh I closed it the
program thinks it shut itself donw.

It only happens when I have my OfficeJet Pro 7780 driver set as

Does anyone have a solution for this ? My clients are tearing at me
since I instlled Office 2007 for them. There is no new driver for the
OfficeJet yet. Yes this is their main printer

Any ideas would be greatly apprecaited.

had similar problem when closing PowerPoint 2007 - ended up deactivating all
addins in PowerPoint and then renaming the Pdfmpowerpoint.dll file - so far
problem seems to be solved

So did you go to trust center, and remove all application add ins ?
The feature says it "may impair funcionality."

I do not have a PDF creater add-in and could not find the .dll you
made reference. I'll try disabling all applications add-in under trust
center and let you know.

Center and Trust Center setting. I get the exact same error. fyi I
never had any installed. I built up 3 brand new Dell D620 Laptops and
can recreate teh error at will be selecting the OfficeJet 7780 as my
defualt printer. Similarily, I can make it dissapear by using a
differnt, non HP, printer as a default

the default, then that's the problem. PPT 2007 really likes a
Windows-certified driver as its default. The drivers that ship with Windows

Just checked the HP site. It looks like HP doesn't have drivers for that
one. Is it an older printer, by chance? The drivers they list start for the
HP Deskjet F4140. Check out this page:

Thanks. I mis-typed, it is the f4140 I have with updated drivers. I
determined the error was occuring when the HP was set as the default printer
and the printer was disconnected. I guess this must be the glitch? Either
that or the HP driver is not adequately compliant.

Hi - I think I'm on the right track, thanks to your previous posts, but I 'm
getting a little different error when I close PowerPoint 2007 - although the
actual error signature is the same (ppocore.dll), when I send the error
report it tells me that there is an issue with an EPSON printer driver on
Vista and to download the fix for it. I'm running XP SP2 and have an HP 7780.

I'm not sure from prior posts that for folks running XP and HP printers that
anything has been solved.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.

I can't really help you resolve the issue with the HP printer specifically,
but if you install a Windows-certified printer driver (one that ships with
Windows) and set it as the default printer, I bet that will take care of the
immediate issue of PPT 2007 crashing when closing.
