[PL] PL2005 CD - it's time to get serious

The PL2005 CD should be finalized soon. After that Steven Burn will create
the master CD and the ISO.

Volunteers with high speed connections are needed to burn and mail copies
of the CD to the volunteer burners who *don't* have high-speed access.

Volunteers for this task will be given *priority* access to the ISO. . .
not that that will to influence anyone's decision. . . ;)

May I have a show of hands please.

I cah't draw a hand on here; too sick with head and chest cold, so I will
merely volunteer to try to burn an ISO. If I have trouble, I will let you
know, so that someone can send me a disk to copy-and-mail.

That's very good news.

For some reason I thought Danny was a *kid*. . . adjusting mental image.
. . ;)

I figured on him being around 25 or 30. Yeah, like Susan said, a *kid*.
Now that I know that he's a gramps, I don't feel so old. And my baby sister
(age 40) just bacame a granny two days ago. I am getting younger. As long
as my kids don't start having babies, I figure I can reduce my age by 5 this
August, rather than add another on to it. lol

Thanks PuppyKatt. I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well - colds are
miserable things. How is your Dad doing these days? (I hope you're not
having to play nurse while you're sick yourself.)

Steven and I just managed to get into agreement on the PL2005 CD folder
and file names - aka all the links to files should work (now). :) A
little more still to do. . .

We're getting close to the finish line (a bit of checking still to be done). Critics
are needed. The more the merrier. . . ;)

I uploaded a preliminary ZIP file that contains the web pages etc. for the PL2005
CD - everything *but* the program files. Steven Burn has given it a quick test (he
replaced the shellexe.exe file - the one in the ZIP is N.G.) - otherwise so far so
good. The file is here:

http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/ftp/2005PL-CD.zip
(249 KB)

Please download the file, unzip it, try it out and post your comments. Is it easy to
navigate? Are there errors, notes that should be added etc. etc. etc.

All suggestions are welcome - I'll implement the *easy* improvements this year. . .
;)

Dad's almost as ill as I am with this thing, but what a freaking pest. His
friends, also in their early 70's and grew up with him since age 6, asked
him why he's so spoiled. He blames it on me because I was his only
caregiver when he was going through chemo for his lymphoma ( in remission ),
and I allegedly spoiled him rotten. He says he got too dependent on me, and
when I go out for a couple of hours, I pay for it when I get back, unless I
am out doing errands for him. I warned him that spoiled kids get put over
mommy's knee and get spanked. He laughed and eased off quite a bit. Now, I
only hear him biatching about my going out once a month or so. Probably
because I only go out once a month or so. lol All in all, we are very
pleased with the team of medical staff that treated his cancer, and we hope
he stays in remission. Also, I am glad that he did not develop the type 2
diabetes that he was just diagnosed with, during the treatments. So far, we
are just watching the diet, and all is fine. Thank you so much for asking,
Susan. Much appreciated knowing that we are in your thoughts.

Hi Susan,
High Speed connection and high speed burner and plenty of time these coming
2 weeks to get out a dozen or so
PL2205 CDs to "Burners with slow Connects".
Just need the .ISO to jump in!
Location: Canada.

Delete the obvious "[Enlever/Delete]"

.... and those who never have anything better to do than play with
themselves gave ME a pound of raspberries when I made a simple typo and
put 1995! Good luck with the peanut gallery!

Thank you Mike. :) :) :) I'll let you know as soon as I know. Would
you mind burning a copy for me? pleaseeeeeeeeeeee. . .

status report:

I've uploaded what I hope is the final group of web pages for the CD.

I've rechecked the intro web page to make sure it says Pricelessware
*2005* - it does :)

but. . . I fear other errors may be lying in wait - *hoping* they'll
go undetected till after the ISO is complete. If anyone has a bit of
time to look things over the package is here:

Steven spotted some things that needed correction - we've been working
on that. . .

I believe this is the current list of volunteer burners:

Australia:
Adrian Carter Email: adriancarterau (AT) yahoo (DOT) com (DOT) au

Canada:
Harsha Godavari
PuppyKatt? Email: slkorolyk (AT) mts (DOT) net

New Zealand and the South Pacific:
Nicolaas Hawkins Email: raptor (AT) top (DOT) net (DOT) nz

Thailand:
Danny Email: dannyboy (AT) asianet (DOT) co (DOT) th

United Kingdom:
Semolina Pilchard Email: Semolina (AT) ecosse (DOT) net

USA:

Mark Warner
Omar Oszust Email: poszust (AT) wideopenwest (DOT) com
REMbranded

I just revised the wiki to show that.

http://www.markcarter.me.uk/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?PricelesswareCd

I *think* these are the volunteer burners who will need to have their
CDs mailed to them:

Danny Email: dannyboy (AT) asianet (DOT) co (DOT) th
Semolina Pilchard Email: Semolina (AT) ecosse (DOT) net
REMbranded

I'm not sure about Danny - he's in Thailand and probably not getting
mail right now.

Nicolaas Hawkins Email: raptor (AT) top (DOT) net (DOT) nz
PuppyKatt? Email: slkorolyk (AT) mts (DOT) net

*May* need to have their CDs mailed.

If anyone else wants to volunteer let me know. AFAIK all the people
above want to be listed on the web page. If I missed anybody or got
anything wrong somebody *please* correct me.

For those who may not know - you can volunteer:

as a "public" burner - with your name and email addie on the web page

or you can volunteer as a "behind the scenes" burner - for example - I
believe Semolina is coordinating UK requests and passing on some
requests he receives to one or two other volunteer burners - depending
on the location of the person requesting the CD. . .

or - if you have a copy of the CD - you can volunteer to fulfill
individual requests that are posted in the newsgroup when the mood
strikes you.

DONE! :) :) :)

I'm emailing the download link to those with priority (the other hosting
sites, volunteer burners etc. erc.)

MAMEngineer - if you'll email at mailto:[email protected]
I'll send you the info.

As soon as those folks have gotten their downloads I'll post the link. I
won't put it on the web site for a few days - ACF'ers get first dibs. :)

I have you listed as a volunteer burner whose name will be on the PL2005
CD web page with a lightly munged email address. Did I get that right
or not?
