PC freezes frequently

My pc freezes frequently, no specific pattern. How do i get to know what causes it to freeze. I have even re-installed XP and updated with latest patches

I had upgraded my RAM recently. How can i find out if that might be the culprit ?
 
If you have the freezes after doing a reinstall I would guess it could be
hardware related , with the memory ram the first thing that I look at.
Remove the ram that you have recently installed and try again. Bad or poor
performing ram is the major cause for system failure. Also check for
overheating of the cpu and poor fan performance. Jym
