Packard Bell USB Scanner and Service Pack 2

My scanner has packed up. Nothing's changed on my computer, just the
download of SP2. It is a USB scanner that has worked fine up until now.
Is it a coincidence or is it anything to do with SP2?

When I look at my 'safely remove hardware' tag it is showing there, but when
I try to use it the computer says that it can't be found or isn't connected.
If I try to scan via the scanner nothing happens. Power light on, all seems
ok. When go into Control Panel, Scanners and Cameras my scanner is showing
but it won't let me access properties.

Ok, just done a system restore to before installing SP2 and scanner now
works fine. Will not install SP2 again until someone can tell me how to
avoid this happening again.

Glitches like this are extremely difficult to find the cause of, even for the
tech support people. If I were you, I would first order the SP-2 CD. Then
after receiving it, do a disk clean and a defrag prior to installing SP-2.
