Where is scanner in devise manager?

When I open device manager I can't see my scanner lister. What should I
be looking for? I have an Epson photo perfection 1660. When I go to
control panel, cameras & scanners nothing is listed even though it's
plugged in. If I try to scan it tells me another application is using
the scanner.

I don't have a tab labeled "imaging devices'.

It's not a tab. Look down the list in Device Manager. Click on each + sign
and you may find it. My list includes Imaging Devices. When I click on the +
sign next to it, it shows my scanner.

I have clicked on every + to expand the view but "imaging devices"' is
not there. I suppose I could just plug in my camera to see where the
USB2 connection comes up but then again this should not be necessary
since my scanner is saying that it's being used by some other application.

Have you tried updating your scanner software? See what Epson has to offer
on their software and drivers, or support pages.
