Outlook sending emails without my permission

Chris

This has happened on my latest two computers running
Outlook 2002 and 2003. Right now I cannot send email
from Outlook because of a relay problem, I can only
receive email. When Outlook is open, every now and then
it tries to send an email and I get an error dialog
because of my sending problem. The thing is, I am not
trying to send these emails and there are no emails in my
outbox that I am trying to send.

It would appear that Outlook is trying to send emails
that I don't even know about. It has queued up three of
these anonymous emails so far. I have a few questions.
Is this regular for Outlook to be sending emails that I
don't know about? Does anyone else experience this? Is
there any possible way I can see what emails are trying
to be sent?

If I open up the details dialog, it only says that it is
trying to send, but doesn't give any indication of what
is being sent, or its progress, or ... anything useful!
How can I see this information? Thanks

a) Do you have good antivirus software that also scans mail, and is of
recent vintage, and is updated regularly?

b) for your relay problem, you may need to authenticate to your SMTP server
in order to send mail.

c) Your computer may be trying to send out read receipts...hard to say.
