outlook connector not syncing

The following from e-mail tech support received this morning (10/13):

After reviewed your case log, I understood your concerns as below:

- You are unable to send/receive messages in the Outlook 2003 with your
MSN/Hotmail account via Outlook Connector and you may receive an error message
says "The operation cannot be performed because the connection to the server
is
offline (0x80040126)".

We shall be working to resolve this specific issue through the course of the
case. If I have misunderstood your concern please let me know.

Recently, we received many similar reports from our customer and we suspect
this
could be a MSN server related issue. Currently, we are collaborating with our
MSN counterpart to identify the root cause of the problem and to work out a
solution to this issue. At this time, the only workaround is to access the
MSN/Hotmail account via web on http://www.hotmail.com.

Please rest assured that we will keep you updated with any progress on this
issue. Your patience and cooperation are highly appreciated.

Thanks for posting - I have been having the same problems - it's been
really flakey the last couple of days. Last night I got mail, but
this morning, nothing again. Hopefully they will get this corrected
soon.

I'm posting this same message in a few threads so the word gets out...read
below

I just got off the phone with Outlook Tech Support. Apparently the MSN
servers have been having some issues for the past couple of days. It only
affects certain accounts (but I did not understand why). Anyways, the long
and short of it is...You may be able to fix it right now or it may take an
additional 24 hours to resolve, she said it's hit and miss. In either case,
here is what Tech support said you need to do:
1. Remove your msn connector under add & remove programs in the control panel.
2. Staying in add or remove programs click on MSN and change/remove and
re-download the Microsoft Office Outlook Connector.
3. In outlook, remove your e-mail account and then re-add it.

On mine it did sink all my e-mails into outlook initially but still won't
receive any new e-mails. If it does not work we are supposed to try again in
24 hours. The upside (if there is one) is that they are aware of the issue!

Good luck to all.

Jason,

Unfortunately, this does not work. I got a fancier, newer version of
Outlook Connector and the error messages no longer appear, but my MSN emails
are still not getting into Outlook after the initial sync. (The initial sync
works when the account is added, but subsequent send/receives don't work.
