Outlook 2007 (Vista) - IMAP / New Messages

I recently switched to IMAP for my email accounts. When I check for
new mail - two things of note seem to happen. 1) Spam messages go
into the spam folder and are bolded when unread (a bit annoying but
acceptable). Is there anyway so that these are not bolded? 2) When
new mail (not spam) arrives - the messages (and thus folder) is not
highlighted with unread. Additionally, the header status has a little
icon by it. How can i have new messages that are unread bolded?
Thanks much.

Outlook doesn't have a SPAM folder. Outlook has a "Junk E-mail " folder.
If you see a folder named "SPAM", that's a folder provided by the IMAP
server and to Outlook, it's just another ordinary mail folder with no
special significance.

WHat are your send/receive group settings for the IMAP account?

Pardon - I meant "Junk email folder" and not "spam" so please adjust
my comments accordingly. When you say "what are your group settings",
what specifically can i provide that will help you.

How do you have your send/receive group settings configured for the IMAP
account?

They are all checked at once - every 5 minutes....

That's only one setting (which may be too short - recommended minimum is ten
minutes). There are many more. Select the send/receive group and click
Edit. Select the IMAP account and tell me what settings are enabled.

Hey Brian -
All the options are selected, including download full messages (odd i
know). It still seems to be grabbing headers.

Well, then, I'm afraid I can't help. Since junk messages get moved to the
Junk E-mail folder, you must be downloading the full messages, as you say,
since the Junk E-mail filter works only when the full messages are
downloaded. It is correct behavior for the messages to be considered New
(i.e., bolded) in the Junk E-mail folder, since they are new. It also seems
correct behavior for the Header Status column to contain an icon until you
actually open or preview a message. That's how it works for me. My
bolding, however, works for new messages in the Inbox. The Inbox acquires
the new message count (blue and in parentheses) following the folder name.
