Outlook 2003 / sending graphics

All of a sudden (just in last week) the .gif files that I send come in as red
x's at recipients end. Also in my sent folder is only red x. I have unchecked
"don't download pictures in HTML email" in the securities tab. That did not
help
Using Outlook 2003 SP3 on a network.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
