Outlook 200 crashes when I open email or forward email

I have:
Re installed Office 2000
Repair & Detect
Updated service packs

Can anyone help? Thankyou

What is logged to the Event Viewer regarding this?
Are you using Word or Outlook as the email editor?

I have set Outlook 2000 to send emails in text not in Word format.
I am not familiar what and were is the Event Viewer

You are running an unpatched version of Outlook 2000. Start with applying
Office 2000 Service Pack 3 and additional updates.

I just tried to downoad & install Office 2000 Service Pack 3, message is:
Expected version of the product was not found on your system.

That is because you don't have SR1 installed yet either.

It's on the download page with a link to SR1;
"Note Prior to installing SP3, you must install Office 2000 Service Release
1a (SR1a) Update."

OK Robert. Have downloaded both updates successfully. However there is no
change to Outlook closing when opening emails.
One error message on installing both programs: Error 1328 applying patch to
file c:\confog.Msi\PT43A.tmp. It has probably ben updated by other means and
can no longer be modified by this patch. System error 1072807676

Ok, in that case you'll need to completely uninstall Office 2000 first. Then
apply the updates. Because of the error, you are still not running an
updated version of Outlook.
