Operating system not recognized

I am running Vista Business Sp2 - recently restored from a backup image
after some problems occurred. Today I tried to install the latest Vista
driver for my GeForce 6600 video card. It will not install and gives me the
message "this driver will only install on a computer running Windows Vista".

How can I get it to recognize my operating system? When booting up, the
Vista choice (it's dual booted with XP) is "Windows Vista (Restored).

What's happening is that the installer is asking the OS for a version check,
and the OS is returning a version that isn't what the installer wants to
see.

This message is because you are running a beta of a service pack, so the
answer is to remove that beta service pack. You should be able to
re-install it later if you wish.

nVidia can't be expected to provide production drivers for beta operating
system installs. When Vista SP2 is released, nVidia will likely re-test
and re-issue the drivers with support for SP2.

You may find utilities that can alter what the OS returns at the version
check; these used to be useful for poorly written installers in the Win3.x -
9.x days.
