on tecra 9100 notebook there is no sound from the headphones

The speakers work but there is no sound from the
headphones. Anyone experienced this? Any ideas?
 
Are the headphones plugged into the sound jack or the CD-
Rom/DVD player? The player has a volume control button
on it, try turning it. The headphones should work at the
headphone jack if your speakers work, otherwise check
them for they may be defective.
