Ok while working on my nephew's computer get the following

Stop: 0X00000024 (0X001902F8, 0XF7CB2704, 0XF7CB2404, 0XF74C0411
ntfs.sys - Address F74C0411 base at F7452000, DateStamp 3b7dc5d

and the system reboots. Loaded the windows XP CD and booted from the CD, went to Recovery Console and get the same error message

Tried booting from floppy, but can't access drive (invalid drive specification

Took the hard drive out of his system and made it a secondary IDE slave on my computer, get basically the same error (different addresses, same DateStamp)

Figure the problem is a bad/corrupted ntfs.sys file on his hard drive. Is there a way for me to access this drive without having to reformat it

Yeah, sounds like a "file handles" problem. Search Google
for a program called ReadNTFS - will fit on a floppy, can
copy files from NTFS from a Win98 boot floppy (or CD).
The invalid file spec message is 'cause the drive is
formatted NTFS . . .

Good Luck !
