crashes on boot - ntfs.sys

My laptop will not boot into Windows any longer. I have XP
home installed. Shortly after the Windows load screen, the
laptop blue screens and starts over. I get the following
error:

ntfs.sys Address F74C0411 base at F7452000
0x00000024 (0x001902f8, 0xf7cb2704, 0xf7cb2404, 0xf74c0411)

I put in the Windows CD to run the Repair but it blue
screens as soon as I hit reapir or Enter to reinstall.

Im stuck, It wont boot in safe mode or any other mode for
that matter.

Any ideas? I need to be able to save my info.

I once resolved this problem on a WinXP Pro computer using Win2K setup
floppies to run the Chkdsk tool with the Ntfs.sys driver disabled. See
