Non-administrator Outlook can't receive mail

I am running Vista SP0 and Outlook 2003. On the admiistrator account, I can
send and receive mail in both Outlook 2003 and windows Mail. On the
non-administrator account, windows mail sends and recieves, but Outlook 2003
can send but not receive. The "test accounts settings" responds properly.
All settings look to be identical. Anyone have an idea what the problem may
be? Hopefully, this is not a Vista problem.

For the Windows Mail problems, what if any antivirus programs do you have?
Some of them cause assorted problems in Windows Mail, although seldom
immediately.

Fot the Outlook problems, you're likely to get a better answer if you ask in
a newsgroup meant for Outlook, such as:

microsoft.public.outlook.general
microsoft.public.outlook

Robert,

Windows mail is working for both accounts. My antivirus program is
PC-cillin Internet Security. Might that be a problem?

I will check the boards you recommend to see if I can get more inf.

If that's from Trend, a recent version (details not available) causes
problems in Windows Mail. I don't know if it also causes problems
in Outlook, though, so you probably should check in the newsgroups
I recommended.

I don't necessarily agree that the AV program is the the culprit in this
mystery, however, I can tell you that many AV applications use a different
scanning module for Outlook than for other clients because of how Outlook
interacts with an Exchange server. As suggested you should post this in one
of the Outlook groups along with any additional info you may have (error
messages, etc.) In general ALL local email scanners should be considered
incompatible with ALL emails clients at some level - its entirely in the
nature of the beast that the way they must work will eventually cause
problems with email flow, not an "IF", but a "WHEN". Email scanning belongs
on an email server. The resedent, local file system scanner, if kept
current, will take care of anything that might slip through a server based
email scanner.
