no sound

my pc crashed sat night and my daughter had to re-install windows xp
professional.
When everything was all done I have no sound the devise manager says it's
not installed. I clicked on re-unstall driver and it comes up saying driver
can not be found. My pc was specially built for me and I can't find the guy
who built it he has moved. I don't know what is in my pc. I went to Pc
Pitstop and did tests. But it says nothing about what I have for a sound
card. I don't know if the sound card is any good or not. Can you give me some
suggesstions on what to look for or where to go. I am not advanced in pc
knowledge.

I DID THAT AND IT SAYS I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH MY
MULTIMEDIA DEVISE CONTROLLER BT DOESN'T SAY WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. WHEN I GO
INTO DEVISE MANAGER IT STILL SAYS THAT ISN'T DOWNLOADED. IS THAT THE SOUND
CARD? CAN MY SOUND CARD BE GONE? I DON'T DARE MESS WITH ANYTHING AFRAID I
WILL DO SOMETHING WRONG. I WILL TAKE IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP AFTER XMAS. THANKS

As with medical problems, get a second opinion, try "Belarc Adviser"

Also, see if you can fix the "stuck in UPPER CASE" problem on your
keyboard!
