The next step is what I said earlier; Find out which you have; Integrated or
a card. What does it say in device mgr. under "Sound, Video & Game
controllers"? You say it has an exclaimation point, so it may not tell you
there which you have...Open the case and look. There may be a model & make
printed on the card(If it is even a card)...Of course, even if you can see
which you have, you still need to know what the mfgr of it is, so you can
download the driver from their site. How long have you had this computer?
What CD's came with it? If all else fails, and you get fed up with the dead
ends, I would suggest purchasing a sound card that you KNOW will work. If
you do that, make sure you enter the BIOS, and disable the Integrated (Even
though it's not working now, that's because you don't have the driver)...to
prevent issues, you should turn off the integrated in the BIOS when you
install a new PCI Sound Card...Since we have been unable to resolve this
issue, you may want to consider purchasing a new card, following the
directions here, and put this behind you. Here is a good site for entering
the BIOS(You did look in the BIOS to see if sound is enabled there, if you
have integrated, didn't you?) Good Luck...
Accessing the BIOS for various MB Mfgrs.;

Thanks Willie.. ok I did what you have told me and I found out that I have
no device its empty ( No name, device ID, manufacturer ID Product ID, Type,
and Default Device) There was a note on the bottom that said : " No sound
card was found. If one expected, you should install a sound driver provided
by the hardware manufacturer. " .. so what do I do now? I appreciate your
help.. Oh yeah I'm running Windows Xp Home Edition.
