No audio devices installed

My grandfather got a computer from another grandson, and his speakers will
not function. I went into the sound control panel, and there are audio
devices installed. I am unable to add any, and not sure exactly what to do.
I attempt to work the volume, and Windows comes back with no audio mixers
installed. I am unable to do this. Can someone please help?

Use Everest to help determine your audio device. The go to the manufacturers
site and download/install the latest drivers per their instructions.
