no audio

I'm getting this error message that says no active mixer devices available TO
install mixer devices, go to control panel, click printers and other hardware
and then click add hardware. I did all this and still cannot hear anything.
When I go to control panel and try to manually adjust the volume...I can't
even click on it. When I go to starr, program, acessories, entertainment,
volume it says no audio output devices are currently installed on your
machine. I went out and bought speakers thinking this would correct the
problem.but I still cannot hear a thing.

Have you installed the drivers for your audio card? Best way is to
download/install the latest drivers from the manufacturer's web site.
