new mail doesnt all show in my folders? where do they go?

when i hit the send/receive button the status would indicate for example...
downloading ..of 35 messages. then once the send/receive is complete not all
the 35 new mail is seen in my folders. i usually receive all new mail in my
Inbox. only some of the mail (of the quantity it stated thats coming in) is
then visible!
i have no rules set up to sort mail in any way. it all should be in the
Inbox! where can it possibly go?
 
Hard to say at this level of detail. Could they be captured by 3rd party
Junk Email filtering tools and/or virus scanners? Also verify that you don't
have any filters set to your view or reset your view.
