New Laptop Clock Issues

I just go this new laptop, and anytime it goes into sleep mode, or I turn it
off, it stops keeping time. Any idea what may be causing this? I've only
had the computer a week and it has been doing this since I bought it.

You might need to replace your CMOS battery. These batteries normally
have a 5 year shelf life, but I have seen them not retain this spec. I
would, if possible, return it back to the original purchasing store and
ask for a replacement. Depending on where you bought it (Best Buy,
Office Depot, Circuit City, etc.), they could replace the battery for
you.
