Network Attached Printer and Print Server

P

Peter

We have just set up a network attached printer - a printer
with a network card attached to LAN and IP address is
assigned. No print server is assigned to it.

We would like to know what is the difference for setting
up a Print Server or not ? From the point of end users,
there is no difference, they can print no matter whether
we set up a Print Server or not ?

Thanks

That depends on your printer and if you want to mange it via a print server.
Most new network printers have their own interface for management. A print
server comes in handy when you want to restrict access to the printer
according to your AD.
