Narration and Hidden Slides

Hi,

I have created a presentation in which certain slides can be hidden to
create a condensed version of the presentation. For example, there are ten
slides that detail the history of our company that would be appropriate for
one audience, and for a different audience there is one single slide in the
same presentation that summarizes the content of the ten. The presenter
would choose which type of presentation to give and hide the unnecessary
slides.

My objective is avoid having two separate presentations (and therefore
recordings) and instead record one narration that is unimpacted when slides
are hidden.

Is this possible?

Your insight is greatly appreciated.

I appreciate you directing me to this site as well as for the quick reply. I
had originally recorded the narration with the slides before we decided on
the alternate versions, so I think I should be all set. If I have any
issues, I at least know where to look first.

Thanks again,
Jennifer

Yes.

When you record narration using PowerPoint, it creates individual sound files
for each slide; depending on the options you choose, it may link them or embed
them, but each slide gets its own individual sound file.

If the slide is hidden or not part of a custom show that you're delivering, it
doesn't appear; if it doesn't appear, the sound attached to it never plays.

If you want to record the narration independently and insert it once, to run
throughout the presentation, that's a different matter. In that case, I don't
think it'd be possible to do what you're after. But the advantage of asking
here instead of privately in email (glad you found the place!) is that with
the least bit of luck, someone will come along, tell me that I'm all wet and
that all you have to do is .....

[c'mon, somebody, fill in the blanks]
