Nagware vote results

J

John Corliss

Since the request for somebody else only resulted in more bickering
(except for the answers from Susan and badgolferman), I Googled the
group to get what I hope are accurate results. And a good thing that I
did it today too, because Google honors requests to not archive, and
some of the votes would have been lost had I waited too long.

There were a total of 62 valid votes. 29 no, 33 yes. If a person didn't
give a clear yes or no as I requested, then I didn't count the vote (see
bottom of list for explanations).

Invalid vote Andy Mabbett (his description of and
points about the validity of the vote were
quite good, and noted, however.. did he mean "nope"
as in a no vote, or "nope" as in he wasn't going to
post his remarks in a separate thread? I think
the latter is more likely given his history here)
Invalid vote Caesar Romano (quoted a yes, what does that mean?
Seemed like Caesar voted yes though)
Invalid vote Doc (made remarks, but didn't post a vote)
Invalid vote Franklin (probably meant "yes" though)
Invalid vote Ivan V. Klattrup (conditional "no")
Invalid vote John Jay Smith (might consider it a "yes" though)

Of course, I will honor the results. Remarks, I will make in another post.

I don't reply to trolls like Andy Mabbett or Doc (who uses sock puppets)
for instance. No adware, cdware, commercial software, crippleware,
demoware, nagware, PROmotionware, shareware, spyware, time-limited
software, trialware, viruses or warez for me, please.

I'm fairly new here. You're going to "honor the results"?? Is this
group yours? Or moderated?

Sorry I missed the original vote, but I am against posting of nagware
UNLESS it is clearly noted, and then only if little or no freeware
exists for the task.

JMHO, YMMV.

this is an unmoderated newsgroup.
But J.C. thinks he is Jesus Christ and is only trying to dictate and/or ruin
this newsgroup.
You can ask or answer anything you like and it's the best for your health to
ignore this fundamentalist.
But don't be afraid. If he don't like your answers he put you in his
twitfilter.
That's why he doesn't see any negative answers ;-).

Not a bad turnout for a snap vote. At least it wasn't a tie.

I would've hated to have the Supreme court decide this one too....

JC *is* the Supreme Court. When he says: "it is so", IT IS SO.

this looks not JC-like? And have a look at the headers? What's really

You're still utterly clueless.
I don't reply to trolls like Andy Mabbett

And still dishonest.

Are you going to fix your broken sig, yet?

I'm afraid you're right.

Header of the message you quoted (allegedly from JC) and one posted by
another participant under their usual persona three minutes earlier in
this same thread is a match on three fields:

UTC/GMT) variation: plus 0100 (Date: Wed, 03 May 2006 17:14:05 +0100)
News Server: (X-Trace: individual.net)
Newsreader: (X-Newsreader: Forte Agent 2.0/32.640)

John Corliss' leadoff post in this thread has a -0700 UTC variation
and was posted via Supernews with Thunderbird 1.5.0.2.

It's really not ethical to impersonate another participant. Someone
owes John an apology IMO.

Of course not. I just meant that I won't complain if somebody mentions
nagware.

I agree but...
Nor is it very ethical for John to cause so much bad feeling on this
NG by lecturing others and trying to hold a phoney poll to intimidate
them into not posting what he doesn't agree with, despite requests
to him from a few people to calm down.

Too bad he lost his own poll. Hopefully he'll calm down for a while
and accept that he doesn't own a.c.f.

The way I see it there are only two people with bad feelings. At least
one of them has capitulated and laid it to rest.

There is no 'but'.
Whatever the rights and wrongs of JC's argument, you don't go
impersonating someone in order to make a point. If you're too afraid
to post under your own identity, don't bother posting at all.
