Vote on nagware ends on Monday

J

John Corliss

Since I forgot to mention the ending point of the vote, I will do so
now. Unless anybody has any objections, I would like the vote to end on
Monday at 12 noon, Pacific Time (my zone).

Regards from John Corliss
I don't reply to trolls like Andy Mabbett or Doc (who uses sock puppets)
for instance. No adware, cdware, commercial software, crippleware,
demoware, nagware, PROmotionware, shareware, spyware, time-limited
software, trialware, viruses or warez for me, please.

please, start your own moderated group ( a.c.f.m. )
Fanatics always ruin the world and you are such a person.
Remember, this is an unmoderated newsgroup and it has the same quality as
the grc newsgroups.
Keep it that way!! That means, you have to shut up.

LOL!

First you say that this is an unmoderated newsgroup and in the next sentence
you tell John to shut up...

/me never look to usenet archives, browsing for old postings how this
and those wrote or have been written.
/me nor do I look from where the poster is

That prevented any misleading with me, so far. Just believe.
Being your own leader is the best Leader.

But, netcops are always around. They attack when someone aberrate from
normal Internet-behaviour, as well as the attackers, which aberrated
much earlier.
Or, MS-OS stealer (profi-internetter) do attack other unlegal MS-user,
bez they are unlegal too. And so.

Etc etc etc....

It's only in an unmoderated group that you are free to tell someone to
shut up; and they are free to utterly ignore your advice.

Clearly, this group is free where ever you look.

Cheers, Phred.

Hi John!

I came a little late into this thread.

Would you care to tell me what nagware is? Something with
license-reminders all the time?

Your childish fanatacism on this topic is causing bad feeling among
other people and wasting much bandwidth, possibly the exact opposite
of what you claim to want.

You have no God-given right to dictate to anyone what they can/can't
post. As another poster wrote: "should start up your own moderated NG"
instead of filling up this NG with threads full of your tripe. Your
continual arrogant lectures would not be missed by me for sure.

Whatever the results of your risible poll, it will not make one jot of
difference to what I - and hopefully many others - post on this NG.

Get a life.

Your so called, self proclaimed "vote" ended before it begun...

I should have started a vote asking:

"How many of you do you think that someone should be forbidden to speak
freely and offer a
second "alternate" solution in order to help the OP if no other freeware
solution exists, or should someone be
trolled and flamed to death if he does?"

Or better yet: "Do you believe of freedom of speech on the Usenet?"

Then you would see the correct results. Even as you stated your "vote" now
the results are showing that there is no great
trend towards what you want to somehow enforce on a free newsgroup.

The very way you asked your question in your stupid vote is misleading, so
the results don't count, they wouldn't count in any case because this is a
free non moderated newsgroup.

What ever happened to what Voltaire said:

'I MAY DISAGREE WITH WHAT YOU SAY, BUT I WILL DEFEND TO THE DEATH YOUR RIGHT
TO SAY IT'

The very definition of "freeware" that you claim to support is WRONG. You
have no case...

Please read the actual meaning of "freeware" on Wikipedia, a FREE
encyclopedia for crying out loud!

And I quote: "The only criterion for being classified as "freeware" is that
the software must be made available at no cost."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freeware

We should be able to say what we like without having a flamewar an trolling
session like you are doing.

You are misleading, misinforming, dominating, trolling, netcoping ... etc.

Go ahead, play your games.. but don't live in a illusion world that we must
comply with such stupidity.

You are showing to everyone what you are made of....

Ad hominem. Very unproductive, unappealing, a deterrent to others.
What's more he can do what he likes, can't he? After all, this is an
unmoderated group.

Possibly, but not likely. He raises this question every 6 months or so

time: People ignore him and just use good common sense in their posts.

Yes, I think so. There are other innovative marketing inconveniences
though, such as CD rippers that only allow you to rip a couple of
randomly selected tracks, per session, now superseded by (e.g.) media
player in its later incarnations.

I recall Adware problems with a 'free' FTP package (sacrificing privacy
is a transaction), and an earlier poster was right; it drove me to buy,
just not the package in question, since I chose Junod's (as it was)
WS_FTP pro. I got bored with tinkering with hosts files and stuff. If I
buy it has to be good.

The point about all of these inconveniences is that they are marketing
ploys. I avoid them for the same reason that I don't record the adverts
when I tape a television programme; I don't want leery wide boys in my
life.

Pah. Future maker.

What do they think. Collecting any info, and from now everything new
goes to Wikipedia. Haha.

Digitally?

Forget Wikipedia. It lies almost in the name, that this can't be
serious.

Even with Books! You need at least five different Books (Encyclopediae)
to get a nearly Right information.

Internet knows nothing, so far. And its uncertainties makes it not a
good platform for such things. Communication, O.K., Information? No.

As I have ordered a ASUS-MB that can do the Extreme-edition P4/1066. So
it wrote on their Site. But fact was, it could max. do the EE/800. So
what?

Information on Internet, seem to appear/change every minute. :-|.
That's it :)

I think a free encyclopedia is a good reference in a free newsgroup that
allows free speech about freeware.

You know who wants freeware in an enslaved world.

You can go and change - edit Wikipedias articles if you disagree... thats
how wikipedia works.

Exactly, good common sense is the obvious solution and this is what I
see from a vast majority of posters on this NG. I had a feeling John
was a regular nutter...

Huss;

Just a quick note to thank you for explaining 'ad hominem' to me. I'd
heard it for years but had never taken the time to learn it before now.

Now I'm able to give a name as to why I find certain posts to be
distasteful. Ah language!

No to NAGWARE Discussions

I have downloaded free software before
and the NAGS were so crippling to the
whole program it didn't make them worthit.

Case in point, the PDF editor that leaves
their LOGO stamped on each document
outputted, AND the FREE version of
Mail Them Pro (mass emailer and newsletter
maintenance software) even tho I did buy it.

Bows. My pleasure.

BTW, and staying on topic, do you know how many free dictionaries there
are on the web? 'Cos I've lost count. :)

Would you like to know how many hours of genuinely free music, from the
artists themselves, I have? Well, it would take a long time to count,
but for just one artist I have nearly three hours, and it's all good
kit.

This medium has revolutionised a number of things. To think that people
once spoke with dismay of the commercialisation of the web. I was
dismayed too, but it's drawn in new investment and become a little world
of its own.

I think I'll shut up for a while, as I haven't finished doing some
important RL jobs, so here's to you for a while; cheers. :)

Please try to understand that the following is humour, meant to show where
this kind of logic
leads to:

Your post contains things you should not talk about. They are forbidden.
Please
relocate yourself to the closest dungeon and receive 10 whips daily.

23:24 here now. +1 GMT.

I would go with:

d) off-topic - brief mention sometimes okay (for comparison etc.)

People may decide themself, how they treat their nerves. Second, it
could be also possible that the company or Organization of the nagware
is really serious.

I also dislike yes/no questions. Five possible,.... is at least a half
side ;-) - pretty well...
Ten is nothing, IMHO.
