Multiple image animation

If I have several images on one slide fading in and out on top of one
another, how can I pick the individual pictures so as to apply the
animations without moving the top one to expose the one below?

Also, I can't seem to get the show to recycle through the pictures when
they are all on one slide.

Only 4 pics on the slide - to date, anyway.

Powerpoint 2003.

Thank you.

Brian.

Mmm. Not so fast. That method might cycle through the images, but you
cannot actually see them, so you still do not know what image you are
working on.

You could also try not having the images on top of each other when
you apply the animations and then lining them up with the alignment
tools when all is done.

Yes. That is where I started from, but when you have more than, say, four
or five images it gets awkward. It seems to be the way to go, though. I
just thought that there would be a better way.

Brian,
If it is any consolation to you this has improved dramatically in PPT 2007.
You can hide/show individual/all objects on a slide, give them appropriate
names and such using the visibility and selection task pane.

There is. Our PPT2HTML add-in includes a kind of layer manager (called the
Accessibility Assistant) that lets you hide/view any shape, temporarily "bump"
a shape out of a stack so you can work on it and then "bump" it back to where
it was originally, and several other handy features.

This feature is fully functional in the free demo of PPT2HTML.

Hi Brian

Any reason why you can't make more slides and have less on each? I only ask
as new slides are free :)

I need them to fade in and out on one another. How can I get a slide to
fade in/out on top of a following or preceding slide? I have tried, but
have not succeeded!

Hi Brian

Put a picture on each slide in the same position (use the grid, guides or
alignment buttons for this) then in slide transition task pane select 'fade
smoothly' -> slow -> apply to all. Unfortunately you cannot alter the
transition speed beyond 'fast', 'medium' or 'slow' so if it doesn't meet your
needs you can put each picture on 2 slides (it won't increase your file
size). So, have picture 1 on slide 1, have picture 2 fade slowly in over
picture 1, have 'No transition' to slide 2 which has picture 2 on it, fade
picture 3 in, 'no transition' to slide 3 which has pic 3 on it, fade pic 4 in
etc etc

If that isn't clear let me know and I'll do a quick video for you :)

Thank, Lucy.

Perhaps I could send you the short effort so far? If so, how?

I have achieved the fade O.K., but cannot get rid of the 'blink' when it
recycles to the first pic. Only three pics involved on one slide.

Sure thing - lucyATaneasiertomorrowDOTcomDOTau (make the obvious changes).
Please include in the e-mail what it is you're trying to achieve & your
version so I know what it's all about...

Done, thank you. Sent as ppt and pps.

Just to round this one off, Brian sent me the file & the blink was caused by
having a transition set & the slide set to repeat until esc.

Thank you, Lucy, but on a single-slide version, I want it to repeat until
Esc - or at least repeat until it is somehow ended.

Setting it to 'No transition' doesn't mean the slide won't repeat, it just
means nothing happens between slides (i.e. it is seamless).

PS I replied to your e-mail but it bounced back :-( I've tried again...
