MS Security Updates

B

Bob Scott

Each time I reboot my PC, especially after it was off, I
get a "Security Update" message from MS regarding one of
their many patches. Only this time it keeps telling me I
need the 819696 MS Direct X patch. I tell it to install,
it does, then the next time(S) I reboot it's there
again. Why, and how do I remedy the situation.

I have the same problem and can't seem to get an answer.
When I check the installed patches it says installed. I
have tried installing from the auto bubble and from the
web site. The site takes longer and shows install time and
complete but soon after I get the bubble and even if I
check for critical updates it shows it is needed.

I think I fixed the problem.
Re-start your computer while pressing the F8 key to place
your computer in the safe mode. Go into system 32 and
delete catroot2. Reboot and then download the update
again.

This will fix the problem and not cause any damage
