Security PAtch update problem

Hello,
I recently downloaded a security patch for XP - Security
PAtch - Security Update 819696.
It gave me a successful update message and at the nxt
check for updates it shows up again as an essential
update. I have now downloaded this patch at least 10
times.
Please advise

Are you sure you have removed the virus? At symantec's
site, they have an explanation about what registry values
to check, procedures that need to be performed (like
disabling any system restore functions, etc). You might
check that out.
