Motherboard issues..? HELP

So here i am again, same ol same ol. Cant get this POS to boot. I can
get it to format and load windows 98, but XP..? forget about it. Any
KNOWN working hard drive ive put in it, it boots to the screen where
it gives you a choice of Start windows normally, or safe mode, or most
recent settings that worked blah blah. But no matter which one you
choose.. it starts to load then reboots itself. Its an E machines MOBO
i got it stripped down to the basics with 1 stick of 512 ram the hard
drive and a cd rom, thats it. The power supply is the one that came
with it so no probs there. The CPU is a socket 939 AMD athlon 3800++

Could anyone tell me if a BIOS flash is in order here? and if so could
i get some detailed instructiones on how to? I never have done one and
i dunt wanna mess it up.

Does anyone know if MOBOS will reject a setup or configuration that is
less than or not equal to the Setup it came from the factory with?
sounds dumb but i wonder.

1st,recheck the hd & cdrom & make sure the jumper pins are set properly
(slave/master),power off pc.Disconnect the battery,locate & move the CMOS
jumper pin from 1-2 position to 2-3 for .45 seconds or so,then back to 1-2.
Replace battery, start pc.You'll need to enter BIOS on start up,reset
date/time,
load optimal defaults, then set for any add-ons (sound card, agp or pci
video,etc),
set 1st boot priority to hd 1st,cd 2nd,save & exit BIOS.Also,to flash,go to
MB
mfg web site, download for youre board, open in say "my pictures" with nothing
else in it,edit,select all,move to a MS-DOS formatted floppy,boot to
floppy.Get
the read me file, find the DOS cmd you'll need to start.

So i was reading the MSI manual for my motherboard when i read
something i previousely had missed.
It says to do some sort of combo install of windows 2000 SP4 for the
windows 2000 environment on a raid drive setup. otherwise it wont
work. DOES THAT MEAN FOR ALL OS INSTALLS? or only if your gonna run
2000? The system came with Windows Professional Media Center. Is it
possible that the MOBO wont support XP home, since it was designed for
Media center?
I dunno, the newer boards get scarrier and scarrier. HELP PLZ!

If you are trying to use a hard drive from a different computer with
Windows XP already installed on it then this will not work, or at
least not most of the time.

You need to do a Repair Install of Windows XP so as to configure it
correctly for the actual hardware in this computer.

Good luck
