missing sndvol32.exe file

I can get no sound from anything. I have checked help and all the suggestions
tell me I need to find this file. Somehow, the sndvol32.exe file has either
been corrupted or is missing. I do not have the Windows XP CD in order to be
able to install it again. Any other ideas?

It's possible that you have a copy of sndvol32.exe in this folder.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache

Note: Since this is a hidden folder you must make the appropriate changes in
Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View page.

If you find the file in the dllcache folder, place a copy in your
C:\WINDOWS\System32 folder.

If you're still unable to find that file, you can download a copy of
sndvol32.exe here.

Good luck

Thank you very much for the download of SndVol32.exe. It appears to have solved my problem. The icon is in the Taskbar and all is right with the universe.

I am a computer idiot. When (and if) I download Neptsfan's link, where do
I save it to? I have the Creative SB Live! and the XP home edition, all
installed by Dell and cannot find my Windows XP disc either. I have the SB
Live! soundcard and the Creative volume control but no sndvol32.exe file.
I'm having trouble getting my first microphone to work and the sndvol32.exe
file seems to relate to my problem.

Use Nepatsfan's link on his site to save the copy of SndVol32.exe to your
desktop. Then right click and move it to your System 32 folder in Windows.
Hope this helps.

You can save the file anywhere you want. Ultimately, you should put a copy
in this folder.

C:\WINDOWS\System32

Good luck
