My other PC won't boot up. It goes to blue screen saying
that system root file 32 is missing. Is there anyway to
salvage the PC with the memory intact?
Please quote your error message verbatim, not from memory.
About your files: Chances are they are still there. Recovery
depends on what is available to you. Here are a few options,
listed in order of simplicity:
a) Restore your files from backup.
b) Copy them to floppy disk (difficult with large files).
c) Copy them to a hard disk on some other Windows PC.
If you provide more details then someone will be able to
guide you through the recovery process. Chances are that
the files are still intact, and that this incident will turnout to
be nothing worse than a forceful reminder that you must
back up your important files to an independent medium
on a weekly basis. Next time you might lose the lot!
