Missing InstallScript engine

I have been trying to uninstall 'Sony Ericsson PC Suite 1.30.173 for some
time. Originally, I would get message that the InstallScript engine is older
than the version needed to uninstall this program. Now it's "The
InstallScript engine is missing from this machine. If available, please run
ISScript.msi or contact your support personnel".

I ran the ISScript.msi but there isn't one. I have searched microsoft
'knowledge base' and 'common Windows Installer issues' but as I'm not
computer literate and with ADHD, I need step by step instructions...if
possible. It's windows installer 3.1 KB893803, version 2 with XP Pro SP2.
Windows was purchased with the PC. Unfortunately, I've lost my paperwork and
can't find the dealer I bought it from to ask questions as directed by
Microsoft. It's a Compaq 'Evo'. I've emailed and asked them but haven't
received a reply. I've been told NOT to touch the regedit by my brother,
who's fed up with the problems I often manage to create.

Delete the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\7 from
the machine.

Download ISScript7.zip from
http://support.installshield.com/kb/files/Q108322/ISScript7x.zip

Unzip this file.

Double-click the IsScript.msi file. This installs the ISScript engine for
the version of the setup.

This should get you an up to date version of the software to complete your
uninstall.
