Missing .dll files ???

Computer: Dell 650, 3.06 gHz CPUs
OS: XP-Pro, SP3, fully updated

After I recently ran Norton SystemWorks WinDoctor, it reported that I
was missing the following .dll files:

msvcr80.dll
msvcp80.dll
mfc80.dll
mfc80u.dll
msvcr90.dll

What do these .dll files do?
Where can I obtain them?
Where do I insert them within the XP-Pro file structure?

Thanks for any assistance.

do a search on Google and see what program requires these .dll files, before
you do anything else. as SFC (system file checker) may require your install
disk to match your current install, ie service packs and patches, and most
are original and do not match the current system. You can bring it up to
speed by slipstreaming but that's another subject.

Norton System Works WinDoctor isn't a good program to use with XP. It was
very useful in Win9x/ME but not after that. Uninstall it and if your
computer is running well, find something else to worry about.

If your computer is *not* running well, then post back with symptoms and a
description of the machine as well as the answer to:

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: If the problem is new, what changed
between the time things worked and the time they didn't?

The Second Question of Windows Troubleshooting: what is the malware/virus
status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what programs (and
versions) did you use to determine this?

Be sure the computer is clean:

If none of your legitimate programs are complaining about missing
files, do not concern yourself.

Those are Microsoft Visual Studio files - is your Visual Studio
misbehaving?

Here is Norton's train of thought:

Here is a list of files and locations I made from my perfect Symantec
environment and here is where I think these files are supposed to be.

If your system does not match their system, then YOU have a problem.

If you search your system you will probably find those files here:

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727

What did Mr. Norton suggest you do to fix this problem? Nothing? Or
they are just "missing"?

It is easy to put the files where Norton thinks they should be so it
will shut up it's stupidity. Is that your desire?

Also beware of the many scan for problem type programs (especially the
free WWW ones) that will report problems if your system does not look
like what they think it needs to look like with missing and out of
date files and then coerce you into buying something to fix a problem
you don't have. That is what they do. They want your money.
