Microsoft Outlook

I recently installed Microsoft Office XP Standard for
Students and Teachers...everything is fine except I
cannot send messages out. I receive them fine but
cannot transmit. Checked server with provider and all is
fine there as we went on the internet and I could
transmit from the internet. We just got a new computer
so this is a reinstall of the program. Could I have
configured it incorrectly somewhere?
