microsoft address does not work

I successfully added my Comcast accounts to windows mail on Vista, but am
puzzled as to this new @microsoft.com address; this address doesn't work. I
am getting my Comcast emails.
I asked friends to send me emails to (e-mail address removed) but I have not
received them. Do I have to set up this microsoft account as well?
Also I have forgotten my password and it tells me to check my @microsoft.com
address to reset, but I have not got the message. What's wrong?
Thanks

Hi there, unless you work for Microsoft, you will not have an @microsoft.com
address.

Use only your Comcast account, for email.

The @microsoft.com account that you set up, under Microsoft Communities, is
for posting to newsgroups, like this one, only.

You really should not post to the newsgroups using @microsoft.com as your
address.

Go to tools>accounts>select the Microsoft Communities
account>properties>general tab, and change that address to something like
(e-mail address removed) click apply then OK.

If you need more help please get back.

Where did you read that you get a (e-mail address removed) address when you
purchase a computer with MS Windows installed?
