Lost XP start up after motherboard change ?

T

Am getting ready to upgrade to Win 7 Pro...just changed my
motherboard/cpu/memory in my box. In trying to start windows...I'm getting
the can not start message...with choices of safe mode - last good
config...etc.

No matter what I try...I just reboot and end back at that screen ?

Have replaced lots of MB's cpu's etc...but first time this has happened ?

Any ideas on how to proceed ?

As I type...I just remembered that I've installed 4 gigs memory...running XP
Pro 32 bit ? Is this an issue that would prevent windows starting up ?

Haven't done anything yet with Win 7...just getting the box ready...

Thanks, Tim

The new MBD/CPU/Memory combination is far enough away from the old
configuration that you should do a "fresh install". That said there are ways
of getting around the problem.
