Windows XP PRO SP1a DSP motherboard upgrade problem

Herbert Schroder

I have just upgraded the intel motherboard & CPU of a customer to another
intel motherboard & CPU and I'm now struggling to reinstall XP Pro SP1a on
the workstation. I have set the drive settings to Legacy and S.M.A.R.T.
disabled to try to resolve the issue - to no avail. The installation fails as
soon as the XP starts installing devices at around 39min.
I understand this might be a problem with XP Pro less than SP2 is this
correct and is there a solution?
Please help I'm really desperate.

Integrate SP3 into your installation CD and try that.

Although it sounds like possibly you might need to install drivers (using
the F6/floppy diskette method at the beginning of the Windows XP install)
for the controller.

Hi Shenan
Thanks for the quick reply.
How do I integrate SP3 into the installation CD??

By the way I tried the F6/floppy driver setup - no go.

If an F6 driver were needed the installation wouldn't even get to the 39
minute mark.

Hi Guys

Thanks very much guys.
I confirm the problem was that the XP sp1 does not work. Before I merged SP3
with the XP sp3 I tried the same with one of our XP SP2 versions and had a
trouble-free installation without having to use the F6 additional drivers
option.

Kind Regards
Herbert
