I have XP SP2.
Somehow I have deleted 'My Pictures' from the start menu.
How can I recover it and hopefully all the pictures too.

Hi Suzuki,

Right-click an empty space on the Start menu, and then click Properties.
On the Start Menu tab, click Start Menu.
Click Customize, and then click the Advanced tab.
Under "My Pictures", click Display as a link
Click OK, click Apply, and then click OK.

Thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately it didn't work.
Now I think about it I don't exactly know when 'My pictures' disappeared.
I was deleting, with a mouse, unwanted items from 'My Documents' and 'My
Recent Documents' I didn't go into 'My Pictures' at all.
It was only when I had finished that I noticed 'My Pictures' was missing.
I've tried 'start' 'search' for 'My Pictures' a folder appears but there's
nothing in it.

Suzuki

Fix the My Pictures shell folder path in the registry:

To launch Registry Editor, type Regedit.exe in Start/Run dialog.

Could it still be in the Recycle Bin?

Thanks for your help I've got 'My Pictures' back on the start menu.
All the photos have gone but I suppose it will teach me to back 'em up in
future.
Still puzzels me why it disappeared in the first place.
Anyway, once again thanks.

Suzuki

Hi,

Without knowing the steps taken to delete the files, it would be very
had to say.

Hi,

The files you accidentally erased can be restored using Active@
Undelete data recovery tool. It is really powerful, as it never failed
me before. I'm pretty sure that will help, also, it never corrupted my
restored files.
