Pictures get copied as I delete them.

My picture program is unhappy. When I delete pictures a little box pops ups
stating pictures are being copied. The first one gets deleted and a copy is
made. I now have 75 copies of the same group of pictures. I have been using
the same Windows XP home program and computer for several years. I could not
find any place that I could have told the program not to let me delete the
picture with out automatically saving it. With my limited skills I am lost.
Thank you for any insight on this problem.

*How* are you deleting them?
If you are utilizing the mouse in *any* fashion - stop.
Try *just* utilizing the keyboard.

If they are all in sequential order (a large block):
Select the first in the list... Hold down the shift key, find the last in
the list and click on it... Everything in-between will be selected.

You can also use the arrow keys, CTRL key and the spacebar to select.
(Select the first file, hold down the CTRL key, use the arrow keys to move
to the next file, press the space bar on the next file, continue until you
have selected all you need to and delete.

(SHIFT+DEL key, bypass the recycle bin... just the DEL key will delete them
into the recycle bin (local files.))
