Amanda Felderman

I let my hubby use my computer, and when I went to log on
later, my files were all gone, including my admin.
account, and he was now the admin and only user of the
computer. I know he wouldnt do anything to mess up my
stuff, but where did all my files go and how can I get
them back? Some programs remaind like messenger, but all
my files and documents are gone. Can someone please help
me asap, cause I need my resume!!!
Thanks!

Open Explorer, in your husband's user account if necessary, go to Documents
and Settings, see if your user name is still there. If it is, it's likely
everything else is there. Then you can create a new user account and move
your files to it. If your user name doesn't appear in documents and
settings, if you have files you created using MS Word, do a search for doc
files. Then, see if any of your files show up. If yes, that location
probably has the rest of your files as well.

If no...your husband is in big trouble because it would appear your stuff is
gone. By the way, take a look at the third line of my signature below, if
you follow that advice, this will never be a problem or worry again.

You let your husband use your computer? Fatal!
If you're using XP try system restore. (Start, programs, accesories, sytem
tools.). Restore to a point well before your husband entered the picture!

In future you could well do with imaging your system drive/s to a seperate
device. "Ghost" from Norton and "Drive Image" from PowerQuest are suitable
and cheap; they would allow you to store completely cloned versions of your
drives/partitions on remote device/media. If you're going to allow someone
else to alter settings or delete files on your computer you really must
consider a reliable backup strategy!
