lost jpg thumbnail views

Win 2k seems to have lost ability to view thumbnails in jpg
format. It still shows thumbnail view and bmp files are
visible but my jpg images are not viewable in thumbnails.
What do I have to do to get the view back. It's easier to
preview my pics in thumbnail and select what I need, than
to have to look at each and every one to find needed pic.
Thanks for any tips in advance. I was disabling some
unneeded services and think I might have disabled one that
controls this aspect.

The solution is in MS Knowledge Base # 292499. It requires a simple
registry edit.
