.jpg Thumbnails don't show the image

When I try to look at a bunch of .jpg files in a folder, and I have VIEW set
to "thumbnails", all I get is the thumbnail box, the identifying text below
it, but no image. This is a recent occurence, I used to be able to see
these with no problems. Can someone suggest a way to fix this problem?

Try this:

Copy & paste the following command to Start > Run, then execute with all
programs closed:

regsvr32.exe /i shdocvw.dll

If still no joy, see this page for a utility that is designed to fix your
problem:
http://www.dougknox.com/utility/scripts_desc/fixpix.htm

This explains the most likely cause of your problem:
An excerpt from the Doug Knox web page states, "Third party image programs often
change these values, and break the "Image Preview" in Windows Explorer. This
script will also repair the Registry associations for Thumbnail View mode, since
they often get damaged at the same time. "

I have the same problem only with Insert/Picture of Expression Web.
Thumbnails show up in Word and PowerPoint.

The suggested regsvr32 didn't do any good.

David,

Thanks for the fast reply. The first suggestion didn't work, the second one
did. My thumbnails are back, and at least I have an idea what caused the
problem...I had recently installed some image programs.

I would think that you'd need to speak to the applications support people if
it's working OK in other apps
