Thumbnails

I am not sure if this is the right forum but... I am using Win2000 5.0 Svc
Pack 4. In Win Explorer I can navigate to a folder of pictures
(*.jpg/jpeg). When I click on the Views button and select Thumbnails, I get
what appears to be a sort of frame (an empty thumbnail perhaps?) with an
icon in the middle. No thumbnail. In some folders, possibly where there
are no actual pictures, Thumbnail is not even an option on the View menu.
What gives? In WinXP I have no trouble like this. How can i get pictures
to display in Win Explorer as Thumbs?

Try registering the thumbvw.dll and see what happens. In the Start >
Run dialogue box enter:

regsvr32 thumbvw.dll

I had this problem myself a while back, and saved this to be able to
find the answer again:

I found a useful web page called How To: Repair thumbnail image preview
in Windows Explorer. You can see this page at:

I have a fix for this but you should verify the other graphic formats first.
I have to run right now and will get back to you on this issue... maybe
Saturday. But I do have the fix. You need to add a line in the Registry.
This has happened to me a few times and to a friend also. I suspect a
registry Cleaner took out the line required for this to happen.

Will get back to you later when I find the code.

I found it. Copy the text between the ***** to a file:
Change the extention of the file to .reg.
Example: FixThumbView.reg
Now it is a registry file that you can double click. Once you do that, it
will add this date to the registry and the thumbview will work again.

Let me know how this works.
