login problem - please help!

WinXP Pro, I can no longer login to Administrator user
account, the main account I have used. I really dont want
to lose all my settings, outlook files etc, please help
me!

I was trying to setup microsoft netmeeting so that my
group can work on the same program at once (in order to
write papers more efficiently). I installed netmeeting,
opened it, and tried to use the microsoft internet
directory to connect with my laptop's netmeeting. Instead
I was shown the screen saying that windows messenger has
taken over for that function. I installed windows
messenger and went through the setup where you enter
your .NET (hotmail)email and password, and I left
the "associate this login with my user profile" box
checked, thinking that it would only mean that messenger
would automatically use that email address when I logged
into that xp user account. However, when I restarted my
computer after installation, I got an error message
saying that the password entered for Administrator is
invalid, go back and retype. well no password works for
admin and the only option i have is to login under a
different user.

Please let me know how I can free my Administrator
account from this problem so I can use it again!

If you have XP Pro on your computer, at the log in screen type
ctrl-alt-delete
twice. In the user account type administrator, leave the password blank and
press enter. You likely didn't create a password for this hidden account
during setup and if the computer was purchased with XP pre-installed it
doesn't likely have one either,

If you have Home, boot into Safe Mode (F8 after the post test and before
Windows starts. Once Windows starts loading, you've missed it and will have
to try again). You'll have an option to log on as Administrator. Again,
the same procedure, you'll be asked to log in to get into safe mode, type
administrator, leave the password blank and press enter.

This will get you in. Then go to Control Panel, user accounts, select the
specific user and select change password. Once you've changed the password
it would be advisable to create a Password Reset Disk by clicking "Prevent a
Forgotten Password" link in the left pane.

ctrl-alt-delete doesnt seem to do anything, and the
account that is messed up is the administrator account.
what should I do?

.
If you have another user that has administrator
privaleges you can log on as them and go to your c drive
then go to tools ---options---vieiw and check show all
files. Then click ok then you should see
document/settings Double click then you should see
local/settings witch this will do is show you all the
user on your computer and your information hopefully.
Just in the future if you go to the control panel and
users/account there is a option to make a forgot password
disk for any of your users. Hope this will help but
remember to go back and uncheck show all files.
bye
