Windows XP login Error

I have WindowsXP home edition (SP2) installed on my computer. I have 2
user-protected admin accounts (say User1 and User2) and I usually use only 1
of them (User1). Today when I tried to login as User1, the computer refused
to accept the password. I had to login using the second user account (User2)
and reset the password for the first account (User1). Next I restarted the
computer and tried to login as user1 and I still got an error message stating
that the password is incorrect. I am unable to understand why this is
happening? Also, I am scared that if User2 account also stops working, I
would be unable to login to my system.

Could someone please help?

Passwords are case senstive. So while creating or resetting a password check
the CAPS LOCK status and same when the password is asked at login screen. You
should also make a sure that all the keys that you are using for password are
working fine.

If the problem is still presist then reset the password and this time leave
the password blank and try to login in to account. If you can login without a
password then problem could be with key combination used in password.

try this and let us know!

Thanks for the suggestion.

Before re-setting the passoword, I had tried to type the password in notepad
and check whether all the relevant keys were working properly. Inspite of
that I had not been able to login.

However, now I have deleted the password and am able to login. So, perhaps
it does have something to do with the keyboard. But as of now things seem to
be working fine :)

Give a new small and less complicated password and then try to login. Before
that check the same password by typing it into the notepad and see if all the
keys are working fine. Also check CTRL and SHIFT key that they are not
stucked.

Hope this information helps you, let us know!
