Outlook tries to connect wrong user

Hi, we use Exchange 2003 and Outlook 2007.

When user1 logs on to her computer and then tries to start Outlook a message
pops up that Outlook cannot access user2 mail or something similar.

In control panel/mail/data files only user2 is listed. I don't want to
delete user2 as I'm worried it will also delete user2's mail folders.

How do I unlink user2 from user1's log on so that each user logs on to
correct outbox mailbox and files?

Many thanks

I assume that both users are logging on with their own user account to
Windows?
Then you can safely remove the configuration settings since you will not
lose any data this way or mess up the configuration of user1.
If you are using a single user account in Windows but want to configure both
users with Outlook, you'll need to configure different mail profiles.
See http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/newprofile.htm

Thanks.

They each have their own accounts on the server which is running Exchange
2003. If I try to remove user2 it says it can't because it is the default
Outlook account. If I try to add the user1 profile as an Exchange account it
says it can't becasue there can only be 1 exchange user profile.

I assume this has to be rectified in the registry when both users are logged
off but I have no idea how to do this. Or there may be another way.

How many profiles are set up under one user's NT account? Use the control
panel > mail applet to tell you this information.

There is only one profile. I managed to chage the user details but the data
files are stored in user2's path. Therefore it will not allow me to change
the path location or access that path and so Outlook still can't start. On
each occasion it says there is no permission to access that path.

So my question is how do I change the path for a user's mail files?

Thanks

Copy the PST over to the correct location. You cannot have one user connect
to files in another user's folder. The solution is to move the PST to the
correct user's profile. Then use File > Open in Outlook under the correct
user's profile and browse to the location of the PST.

Thanks. I cannot move anything if I can't open Outlook.

The message user1 gets is: Your offline folder file cannot be configured and
there is then a link to c:\users\user2. The message appears twice and Outlook
closes. I have disabled offline files but it makes no difference.

This is the same for every new user to log on the computer. I've tried
changing the Data files in users configuration but it will not allow me to
change the path.

You cannot have Outlook open when you move the PST file. In order to move
the PST file you must have admin access to get into the other profile
folders.
