Use the Performance Monitor after startup to get an indication of the
bottleneck. That won't show what the problem was during startup but if the
problem was limited resources then that will continue to be a problem after
startup.

I cannot be sure where the menu item for the Performance Monitor is for you
execute it but in my system it is at "Start | Programs | Administrative
Tools | Performance". When it starts, it probably will show three "counters"
but there are many more that can be added. The default three are pages per
second, disk quota length and processor time. I am not sure what the disk
quota length shows; if the system is paging a lot then the disk quota length
will usually roughly correspond with paging. The processor time is
essentially what you see using the task manager. The pages per second can be
very helpful if the problem is inadequate physical memory.
