Hi. I was using my HP Pavilion 5300 Laptop last week and
it was running on the battery. I wasn't paying real
close attention to the battery status and it eventually
went into the Hibernation mode. When I connected it back
to the power supply I noticed a few problems. First,
even though networking is running fine, nothing shows up
in the Network Connection folder in Control Panel. I get
an error message that says the Network Connections
service is not running. When I go to that service and
set it to automatic and start it, the problem is not
fixed. The network adapters never show up in Network
connections.

Second, I can no longer burn CDs. Normally when I back
up my data, I highlight all of the folders I need and
then right-click on one and select "Send To" and go down
to the D: drive, which is my CDR. The "Send To" option
no longer shows up at all, anywhere.

HP service techs tell me to reinstall the operating
system. Right now that's not an option because I can't
back up the data on CD. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Brad
