Knackered CD Drive

Hi,

My 4 month old Sony Vaio laptop CD drive is playing up. Wrote a CD the other day ok, but now it just wont read any disks at all. Anyone has this problem before or have any suggestions? It just makes noises as if it is trying to read the disk a few times then just doesnt do anything.

The first time i noticed it wasnt working it did seem to be making some weird noises!!

It could be a dust problem? If its only 4 months old, I'd ring sony and just get the CD drive replaced under warranty - it shouldn't be doing that after such a short time.
 
Yeah, im just not sure how to do it cause im in australia and i bought the it from pc world back home. Any ideas where i start?!!
 
I'd read through the documentation that came with your laptop (if you have it), as Sony will probably have a worldwide warranty. If so, having it in Auz shouldn't be a problem - they should repair it over their for you :)
 
For months is about right for Sony ... they will give a new one that should last 6

:D
