Is there some way to stop NAV "expired subscription" notifications?

NAV 2002 keeps giving me the Expired Subscription message every day and the
"Notify me again in __ day(s)" box doesn't allow me to choose any interval
other than 1 day. I have no intention of renewing my subscription, as my
computer is so close to death that I'm going to just get another computer
soon anyway, but the notifications are very inconvenient-- whenever one of
them pops up, it interferes with any other programs I'm using, and sometimes
causes the computer to crash. Is there any way to either change the
interval or turn off the notifications altogether?

I'm not sure how you'd do this if you just had NAV 2002, but I have
Norton SystemWorks and from it's main control panel I select Options
and then select the Norton AntiVirus Options. There are 3 main option
areas (System, Internet, and Other). In the "Other" area, under
Miscellaneous, there is a checkbox with the title "What to do when
virus protection is out of date". There is a check-box under it with
the phrase "Alert me on start-up if my virus protection is out of
date". Remove the check in that box and you shouldn't see those
messages again.
I have no intention of renewing my subscription,

If you still have your original NAV disk, then if you un-install NAV
and then delete all Norton and Symantec directories on your computer
then you can re-install NAV and get another 1 year of subscriptions.

Unfortunately even if that works, you are still running the NAV 2002
software engine which is now 3 years old. 3 year-old software even
with current definitions will not give you the protection you want.

Extending virus definition support is usually not a good idea. It is
better to purchase the updated software version as well. If you can't
afford it, look for some free AV solutions.

For example, here's one free 2005 AV (and there are others):

It's pure speculation to say that newer versions of NAV are more
capable (when using the same .def file) at detecting threatening files
than NAV 2002. We are not necesarily talking about a full feature
type protection app (that can check your browser settings or your
registry or scan your cookie files or look for browser helpers or
ad-ware).

If you are running NAV 2003 or 2004 or 2005, find the file
"navscan.dll" on you system and tell me what version it is, and what
is the "product date" when you look at it's properties.

There is no navscan.dll for NAV 2005.

I rest my case.
